Alabama 2007
A day trip to Fort Morgan at the mouth of Mobile Bay treated us to a myriad of Monarch
Butterflies. Here and in the next photo are a couple.
Fort Morgan dates from about 1819-1834 and was constructed as part of a coastal defense system. Modifications were made prior to the Civil War as
noted in the masonry work here.
The fort continued as a coast artillery post until after World War II.
Cathy dislikes it when I take Candid pictures so she agreed to pose for this as we
walked through a Wildlife Preserve at Weeks Bay, a portion of Mobile Bay.
I believe this to be the female Yellow-rumped Warbler.
I know this is a common butterfly, but I do not know its name. It was
checking out the wooden planks of the walkway at Weeks Bay.
This is the harbor at Bon Secour where part of the fishing fleet calls home.
