The Appomattox County Jail was rebuilt after the War
in about 1870. The existing building is original from that time.

This is the Courthouse which has been restored following a fire in 1892. The Courthouse was
closed the day of the surrender so none of the surrender events took place there.

The Clover Hill Tavern and Hotel, from the rear, was a stopping place for travelers.
The large front porch, just visible at the right gave us some shade during the presentation.

The kitchen for the tavern was in a separate building in back of the tavern.
Slave quarters were in the white building at the right side.
The main building is used as a bookstore and gift shop today.

This is the kitchen of the McLean House.
Another adjacent building served as housing for the McLean's slaves.
