FL Escapees RV Park 2006

Scenes from the Escapees Sumter Oaks RV Park in Bushnell FL where we stayed from December 2006
until April 2007 while Cathy began her chemotherapy treatments.

A Green tree frog had no trouble walking up the side of the RV!

A few days before we left on April 2, I was sitting on the patio reading when I noticed a movement in the hibiscus.  When I looked up I saw this 3-foot black snake drop to the ground and head toward the parked car.  Before he ducked out of sight, I recorded his presence.

The adjacent property is a small farm whose owner lives in Tampa about 75 miles away.  The donkeys stay in the fenced pastures and provide an attraction to RVrs who love to feed carrots to the eager group.  This is Buckwheat, who was just a little one when we got there and who grew quite a bit.

On this day, I had no carrots and these guys were not disposed to venture any closer as a result.  A new baby can be seen lying down to the left.

One of the roads leading from front to rear of the Park.

The park's significant feature is the stand of Live Oak trees with branches wondering in all directions forming a shady canopy over most of the sites.

The overarching branches form a tunnel effect over the road.  It is in this area where we saw and photographed the Barred Owl

To the right is the Park Office while just to the right of the tree is our home on wheels.

This hibiscus bush at the end of our patio was in full bloom when we arrived in early December and we regarded it as our Christmas tree.  It continued to bloom until a couple of days of frost in late January did it in.

This is a view of the tree tops and Spanish moss hanging from them that we enjoyed just out our door.
